Josh Hardin, Pharm.D., of Vestavia Hills, Receives the 2023 Lester White Good Government Award

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On June 11, 2023 it was announced that Josh Hardin of Vestavia Hills is one of two recipients of the Lester White Good Government Award. The other recipient this year is Eric Smith of Ashland. The awards were presented at the APA 142nd Annual Convention and Trade Show at the Grand Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in Point Clear, Alabama.

Established in 2000, this award recognizes individuals who actively contribute to the community through their involvement in the political process. Their efforts shall raise awareness, improve the pharmacy profession, improve service and education to the patients, and build effective relationships with elected officials.
Hardin has found numerous ways to engage his elected officials and with his ownership of Mills Pharmacies, he has several to keep up with. The Jefferson County legislative delegation is quite large, but he seems to find a way to connect whether it is participating in a health fair organized by Senator Coleman-Madison or having breakfast with candidates at Cracker Barrel during an election season. He is quick to invite APA and other pharmacists to join in the conversation. Josh is always taking time to educate anyone listening about the profession, the problems, and successes of pharmacists' daily work. He supports the APA PAC and gives his time and resources. He regularly communicates with not only his local leaders but also the Department of Insurance, various medical payers, and his Congressional delegation.

"When it comes to pharmacy, Josh Hardin will be front and center fighting for the ability to serve his patients," said Louise Jones, APA chief executive officer. "Josh is bold when it comes to advocating for his profession and he is so deserving of this award."

The Alabama Pharmacy Association is a nonprofit professional organization with over 3,000 members. The APA offers continuing education programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Members take a leading role in lobbying for pharmacy at the state and national level. The APA was established in 1881 and is the oldest professional organization for pharmacy in the state. APA members represent all practices of pharmacy and are committed to their profession and their patients.
