Birmingham, AL — May 19, 2026 — Dr. Anthony J. Bolus is a dedicated community pharmacist, health advocate, and educator with nearly two decades of experience in community pharmacy. His journey began in 2007 as a pharmacy technician in a chain drugstore, where he quickly developed a passion for patient care and community health. He went on to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy in 2013.
After graduation, Dr. Bolus served as a pharmacy manager in Calera, Alabama, before returning to academia the following year to complete a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency with Family Medical Services (FMS), Inc. and Samford University. Throughout his career, Dr. Bolus has worked to expand the role of community pharmacy beyond traditional dispensing. He has helped develop and implement a wide range of clinical services, including wellness screenings, immunization clinics, diabetes education programs, genetic testing, EKG monitoring, test-to-treat services, weight management coaching, and comprehensive medication therapy management. His work has focused on making healthcare more accessible, personalized, and impactful for the communities he serves.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bolus is passionate about education and mentorship. He continues to serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students from Samford and Auburn University, helping to guide and inspire the next generation of pharmacists.
Dr. Bolus is also the founder and producer of Healthy Dose, a health-focused radio show turned podcast that began in 2011 on Birmingham’s Smooth Jazz FM 91.1. Through this platform, he brings practical, relatable health information to a broad audience, with new episodes planned to relaunch soon.
